A Bit Of A Blow

As I read of the fourth hurricane to hit Florida in a few short weeks (Guardian Unlimited The Guardian 1m without power as Jeanne hits Florida), I can't help but remember that Florida's governor, Jeb Bush, is the man who gifted his state to, and swung the last presidential election (with considerable assistance from the majority of the United States Supreme Court) decisively in favour of, his brother. Bearing in mind the frankly Biblical nature of the forces which have been wreaking havoc in Jeb's state, a god-fearing man (unlike myself) might be tempted to ask whether the Lord was trying to indicate his view of the election 2000 shenanigans. Of course, as I don't believe in God at all, let alone fear him, I could never think such a thing ... though if the Supreme Court gets struck by lightning, I might have to think again.

Hello matey,

I just came across your blog and very interesting it is as well.
On the issue of whether or not God is punishing Florida, as a Christian I know the Lord to be a loving, rather than a vengeful, God.
And, even though I was as sickened as anyone else at the way the 2000 Presidential election was decided not be voters, but by the courts, I don't believe the recent storms had anything to do with some kind of devine retribution.
You've also got to remember that most of the Christians over there in the U.S. voted for George W. (though, I favoured John Kerry).
Anyway, it's a fab site.
Why not give mine a visit (www.journomat.blogspot.com)
Cheers,

Mathew Hulbert.
